Chargeable extras for EYFS

Chargeable Extras for Early Years (EYFS)
The Department for Education (DfE) requires all early years providers, including schools offering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), to be fully transparent about any chargeable extras linked to funded childcare hours. While the 15‑ and 30‑hour entitlements must be delivered completely free, schools are permitted to charge for optional items or services that sit outside the funded provision.
These may include:
•     Meals and snacks
•     Consumables such as nappies, wipes, or sun cream
•     Additional activities such as trips, clubs, or specialist sessions
•     Extended hours beyond the funded entitlement
Any charges are entirely optional and must not be a condition of accessing a child’s free early education place. Families will always have the choice to provide their own items or opt out of additional services.
Below is a clear breakdown of any chargeable extras so that parents and carers have accurate, accessible information when planning their childcare arrangements. This information is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains compliant with current DfE guidance.
